Is it a dropped stitch found after bindoff? Can you take a piece of the project yarn, pull it up through the offender and weave the ends in just as if you were ending a skein?

OK, I saw your comment on Rav about it being a dropped stitch. I would pull the run back up with a crochet hook until you get to the hemmed edge, then use a little piece of waste yarn to bury the repair in the seam. If you don't know how to do this, put a safety pin thru the loop to keep it from running any more & bring it to the trunk show -- I can show you how to do this easy, it'll take three minutes.

As long as you are not entering it into the Fair for a prize, I vote for the crochet hook/sewing needle solution.

Kay sounds like the right sort of friend in this case, if she can show you in person. Do not forget to take her chocolate.
